The New York State Center for Engineering Design and Industrial
Innovation (NYSCEDII) at the University at Buffalo (UB) invites your
female students entering grades 10-12 to apply for participation inthe
2008 Cyber Engineering Workshop for Young Women, July 14 - 18.
The workshop will introduce students to the engineering design
process. As part of the workshop, students will have hands-on
experience using engineering tools, as they develop and model an
engineering design concept. The workshop will take place from 8:30 am
until 4:00 pm each day at the University at Buffalo's North Campus in
Amherst. All application materials and additional information are
available at the NYSCEDII website (www.nyscedii. buffalo.edu) .
The application for the workshop should include:
1. Completed application form
2. High school transcript
3. Letter of recommendation from a science, math, technology,
computer teacher, or guidance counselor.
4. An essay explaining (1) how this workshop can help to prepare
the student for a future career (in science or engineering) and (2)
how the student expects to contribute to the workshop as an
individual(by your character, culture, special talents, …).

Application materials are due by May 16, 2008. Accepted applicants
will be notified by May 30, 2008. There is no cost to participants for
the workshop.
There are a limited number of seats available for teachers. If you are
interested in participating, please send a letter explaining your
interest to the address above. Additional information
