The 1st Annual New Mexico Young Playwrights Festival

March 28, 2008

Hello Educators,

I’m writing to introduce the NEW MEXICO YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS PROJECT to educators all over New Mexico. This groundbreaking project nurtures young writers and future theatre-goers, while helping to raise literacy rates in New Mexico.

Currently we are soliciting plays from student writers throughout the state for the 1st Annual NEW MEXICO YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS CONTEST. The winning plays will receive a professional staged reading at the NEW MEXICO YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL on July 25-27. This event, hosted by MOTHER ROAD THEATRE COMPANY, will take place at THE FILLING STATION performance space in downtown Albuquerque.

Don’t miss this opportunity to submit any plays that your students have written, are writing now, or that you may have them write as end-of-the year projects. This year we invite plays of any length and any subject matter.

I’ve attached a flier detailing the specifics of the Contest and the Festival. I encourage you to post this for your students and pass it along to anyone who may be interested.

Thank you for your participation in this exciting new project. Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me for further information.

Warm Regards,
