K-12 New Mexico Connections Academy charter school

I can give no other information on this other than this meeting. They have tried to do an informational meeting before but on such short notice I don't know if many people attended. This is not homeschool you will be a registered student of the NM Public School system. I can understand they need support but they have not really tried to get any information out before this ''urgent" notice. Might be an educational choice for some. -_Tabitha

This Wednesday, August 15th, the New Mexico Public Education Commission will hold a public meeting to obtain information and community input to assist in its decision whether to grant the opening of New Mexico Connections Academy virtual public charter school .
Parents and community need to attend this hearing.
If you are able to attend, please contact Carrie Jean Ross immediately at
505-629-4458 for additional information.
If you are unable to attend the hearing, the Public Education Commission needs to hear directly from YOU by mail or email by Friday, August 24th.
Please take these 3 easy steps.
How can you make your voice heard? It's easy as 1-2-3.
1. Sign the online petition. After you sign, forward it to friends and family members. Let them know how much this means to you. This is not a political petition and it’s not necessary to be a registered voter to sign it. It will be provided to the Public Education Commission to demonstrate the amount of interest that New Mexico residents have in supporting a statewide virtual charter school program.
Follow this link now: http://www.gopetition.com/online/13790.html

2. Write your message. Explain that you are a parent or community member who is interested in giving all New Mexico school children access to. Mention your reasons or special circumstances -- tell your story! Keep the focus on what would be POSITIVE for you about a virtual public school, rather than what's wrong with other kinds of schooling. Do remember that virtual public school is not homeschooling -- you might want to avoid the term "homeschool" altogether.

3. Attend the public meeting! We recognize not everyone in the state will be able to attend, but the more people that can attend in person, the better! Public comment is invited, but just being there will make a world of difference. The Public Education Commission is interested in knowing how many families are interested in supporting the school. They need to SEE you there. Plan on attending this Wednesday afternoon, 1 – 3 p.m. in Albuquerque, NM. Click the address for a map.
