And, y'all here's some info on Becca, fencer extra-ordinaire!

In October 2006, Ward became the new world champion of women's sabre
at the World Fencing Championships in Italy. She defeated the 2004
Olympic gold medalist and club mate Mariel Zagunis, 15 -11, in the
final to win. This win earned her the USOC Female Athlete of the
Month for October. At the age of 16, she became the youngest fencing
world champion and became the first fencer in history to hold the
cadet, junior and senior world championship titles in a single
season. Her win also made her the first U.S. fencer to win the
individual women's sabre world championship medal. In May 2007, Ward
won the silver medal in the sabre event, at both the Hanoi Women's
World Cup and the England World Cup. Also in the month of May, she
won the gold medal at the Klagenfurt Women's World Cup. At the Las
Vegas Grand Prix in June, Ward won the gold medal defeating 2000
Olympic silver medalist Xue Tan. Based on the strength of her 2006
World Fencing Championship win and her great start for the 2007
season, Ward has remained on top of the International Fencing
Federation (FIE) ranking list. She is ranked No. 1 in the world in
the sabre.

AND, everyone cross your fingers, Becca will be competing in Zonals in
Canada next week which is a very important meet.

Then she's on to Germany to Tauberbishofheim in the middle of September
where she will train and acclimate. After that, it's Russia!
