1/10/07, Explora Update, Home School Science Club

Hello everyone, I am sending on a message directly from Holly at Explora regarding the teenagers class. I apologize that it has come to this point of either cancelling or needing more kids but this is what we are faced with. So if we can not get 5 more children between now and next Tuesday this class will be cancelled. The other classes are all set to run even without the siblings should they drop out of their levels also.

Here is a link to the other classes that she talks about in her email : http://www.explora.us/ExploraPHP/english/goeson.php

If you have further concerns or want to speak out about these classes feel free to contact Holly (contact information below) or her supervisor (this would be the person to discuss this directly with) and the Education Services Director, Kristin Leigh kleigh@esccma.org 224-8380. All contacts at Explora are listed on this page: http://www.explora.us/ExploraPHP/english/contacts.php

I encourage you to call and let them know that we are out here and to keep trying to find something that will fit for all our kids!

My apologies to this community but you can not say we have not tried and I can only go so far. Perhaps in the future there will be a need for this class again.

Yours sincerely, Tabbi

Tabbi,

We now only have 6 in the oldest class. If we could get at least 5 more, I would go ahead and run it. If not, I think we will have to cancel. I am really sorry about this, the educators were looking forward to really getting to know this group on an ongoing basis. But we will be losing too much money on the class with only 6 students. I know that many of the students enrolled have siblings in the younger classes, and they may be pulled out also, but it will not affect the other classes, we will still run them.

You can let the parents of the older kids know we do have the Explora After-School Clubs available, they start January 22nd, and they can choose from Explora Science Investigators on Monday afternoons (4:30), Multimedia Artists Studio on Tuesday (4:30-6:00) or Robo Task Force on Wednesdays (4:00-5:30).

If you would also let the parents with toddlers ages 2-4 years know we have a Growing a Scientist program that will start Jan 10 we would appreciate it. These classes meet once a week for nine weeks, and it is for the child and parent. (140 for members, 160 for non-members).

Thanks so much, let me know what you think.

Holly
