NEW MEXICO SCIENCE BOWL



For High Schools



On behalf of the Secretary of Energy, Samuel W. Bodman, Sandia National Laboratories is pleased to announce the annual New Mexico Regional High School Science Bowl. This tournament-style, academic competition challenges and recognizes New Mexico high school student’s knowledge of science and mathematics.

The New Mexico Regional High School Science Bowl will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Albuquerque Academy Science Center. The winning team qualifies to compete in the National High School Science Bowl, April 26-30, 2007 in Washington, D. C.

The New Mexico Regional competition is limited to 60 teams and since schools can enter up to 3 teams, the slots may fill up quickly. Please respond as soon as possible before January 26, 2007 to secure your slot(s).

Return the attached form if you plan to enter a team. Registration details and other information will be sent by mail once I receive your completed form.

Competition is in the form of a round robin/double elimination tournament. Teams consist of four students, one optional alternative team member, and one coach, usually a science or math teacher.

Sandia is proud to sponsor this exciting academic competition along with other local partners, and we hope to have your school's participation.
