-Resource: Home School Learning Network

I was impressed by both their thematic units as well as their week to week structured schedule. They also have a free tutorial on setting up portfolios for your kids and a three-day trial to try out their resources. Might be a good tool for someone! Enjoy!--Tabbi

The Home School Learning Network
is an affordable, dynamic online K-12 curriculum service that allows home educators and teachers to access thousands of unit studies, lesson plans, and worksheets. In addition, our learning environment offers a collaborative environment where educators can communicate and interact.

Overview

Thematic Units: HLN provides a wealth of learning content in the form of thematic units, lessons and worksheets for grades K-12. There are 3-4 thematic units and a grade-specific workplan provided every week. Each theme includes background information and 6-8 lessons for varying grade levels and subjects, but there are always several lessons for each grade per theme.

Learning is done mainly online, although there are worksheets available in each unit for download to work on offline. We currently hold an archive of over 300 thematic units to choose from if the week's learning material is not of interest to you. Research topics of interest to you! We also provide downloadable, weekly Language Arts, Math, and Science worksheets/experiments.

Structured Learning: You may also follow our 36-week structured learning pages for grades K-12 to learn week-by-week for your child's specific grade. Your child can learn at his or her own pace and academic level!

You may learn with either the Thematic Units or the Structured Learning at any time! Both are always available to you and your family.

HLN provides an affordable, week-oriented learning environment, however at this time we do not keep records of student work-- it is an independent learning environment. We do not monitor students' work, therefore, we do not issue diplomas for homeschoolers. We recommend that students keep a portfolio of their work.

Weekly Thematic Units & Workplans

HLN offers four thematic units each week. Each thematic unit includes in-depth topical information, related resources, and 5 - 8 lessons, with activities and worksheets. Every thematic unit spans across the curriculum and across the grades. Each week, all available lessons for the current theme are outline by subject and grade level within a downloadable PDF workplan, so educators can outline and plan their week of study.

Science, Language Arts & Math Worksheets

HLN offers science experiments, language arts worksheets, and mathematics worksheets each week. They are designed by grade level, and are available via PDF download.

Structured Learning

Follow our 36-week structured learning pages for grades K-12 to learn week-by-week for your child's specific grade. Your child can learn at his or her own pace and academic level, or multiple children can work on material specific to their grade level.
