Spring 2007, UNM Music Prep School

The UNM Music Prep School provides a music education program of exciting and enriching music experiences for children birth through sixth grade.

Saturday Classes at UNM, Center for the Arts
Months: Fall Session - August 19 - December 9, 2006
Spring Session - January 13 - May 5, 2007
Target Audience: Birth to 6th graders and their parents
Fees: $100 per child, per class, per semester for ages 2 1/2 through sixth grade; $80 per child, per class, per semester for birth to 29 months.

"Music Is Concerts":
Educational concerts performed by UNM Ensembles and other Albuquerque Music Groups, in Keller Hall at the UNM Center for the Arts
Concert Dates: October 14 and November 4, 2006; February 3, 2007
Target audience: Birth to sixth grade, and their parents
Fees: None

UNM Music Prep School Children's Chorus
Months: Fall Session - Meets Wednesdays beginning September 6, 2006, in the Sandia High School Chorus Room.
Grades 3-6: 4:00 - 5:30pm,
Grades K-2: 4:15 - 5:15pm
Fees: $200 per child, per class, per semester for grades 3-6; $180 per child, per class, per semester for grades K-2.

Highlights
Our teachers that provide Saturday classes are certified music educators. The curriculum offers students an opportunity to experience a wide variety of music that celebrates cultural diversity in classes such as: pre-school and general music; family music; vocal music; Orff percussion instrument ensemble; Spanish songs, dances, and games for the family; exploring children's literature through music; world music and drumming; Suzuki violin, viola and cello, piano, guitar and marimba.

The Saturday classes program consists of three semesters, fall, spring, and summer and is for children ages birth through sixth grade. Classes are held at UNM in the Center for the Arts from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Summer dates will be announced at a later time.
