SMNHC’s Ecosystems Everywhere! Curriculum Workshop

Wednesday, January 10th, 4-6 PM, NM Museum of Natural History & Science

Make teaching ecology and field trip preparation easier and more fun! You’ll go home with ready-to-use, hands-on, multi-disciplinary activities and our full curriculum of activities on CD. The curriculum uses New Mexico ecosystems to teach 5th grade science standards. Local and relevant! Bi-lingual (Spanish student worksheets included). Refreshments provided.

Level: Teachers of 3rd– 7th grade

Cost: Free! (Curriculum CD and refreshments included free, as well)



Project Wild and Aquatic Wild Workshop:

Presented by NM Department of Game & Fish

Saturday, March 10th, 9-4PM, Sandia Mountain Natural History Center

Project WILD is a K-12 interdisciplinary ecology, conservation and environmental education program emphasizing wildlife. You will go home with two award-winning international Project WILD guides (revised 2000 edition!) full of fun, hands-on activities for your classroom or program, as well as Project Wild certifications. The activities cover many New Mexico Content Standards and Benchmarks in science, math and language arts.

Level: K-12 teachers (also open to non-teachers)

Cost: Free (Guides included free, as well)





SMNHC’s Wild Sandias! Short Course

Saturday, May 19th, 9:30-3:00PM, Sandia Mountain Natural History Center

Come experience the Sandias! Hike with us and learn about the natural history and ecology of the area. Take home hands-on activities and fascinating facts about local plants and animals with which to engage your students. Local ecosystems help students learn and retain ecological principals more easily! Free copies of our ecology curricula available to participants.

Level: All teachers and pre-teachers (also open to non-teachers)

Cost: Free
