I received this today and thought it might interest some of you, it does not look that expensive but it is interesting.....the mom does not live in NM it is one of those solicitation emails that moderators sometimes receive so I can not vouch for the veracity of the program. If you use it let me know so that I can tell others...Thanks, Tabbi

Hello,
My name is Dori Young and I'm the proud single mom of the most incredible 8 year old boy. I teach kids cooking classes and write cooking programs and that might be of interest to your group. Below is some information on my NATIONAL Jr. Cooking Club where members from all over the country Cook to Learn! . If you'd like, feel free to pass this on. There are also free recipes available.
Cook to learn! - Education in the kitchen.
Introducing, the Kids Jr. Cooking Club! The cooking program you participate in from your own home; no driving. There are 3 age ranges: 5-8, 9-12 and 13-17. What's the difference between the Kids Jr. Cooking Club and a kid's cookbook? Most cookbooks focus on only one thing: the end result. While all of our recipes taste wonderful, our focus is on the process of learning to cook. Each recipe is written specifically for the age group, has cooking and/or educational challenges, activity sheets and the recipes get more challenging as the ages increase (and adult involvement decreases).
The following key concepts are repeatedly emphasized:
*
Cooking & Kitchen Safety
*
Cooking Terms & Techniques
*
Health & Nutrition
*
Multicultural Cooking
*
Food Education
*
Measurements & Conversions
*
Food Planning, Preparation & Clean Up
Kids Jr. Cooking Club members are involved in the entire process of cooking, from planning and shopping to clean up. The Kids Jr. Cooking Club is for kids who truly wish to learn to cook. The Kids Cooking Jr. Cooking Club is more than cute baking kits, fancy cookies or cupcakes. Kids learn real techniques, in preparing real food using real recipes. In addition, the Jr. Cooking Club is designed to cross all developmental domains (mental, physical, social, cognitive, emotional) such as problem-solving, visual-spatial, sharing, cooperation, fine motor and gross motor and sensory exploration. And we developed our program to touch on core subject areas such as fractions, counting, sorting, money, reading, vocabulary, shapes, colors, chemistry, science, nature, social studies, geography, art, history health and nutrition. And finally, cooking sparks creativity and encourages imagination and exploration.
