Just when we were despairing that there were no art classes in town....here is an artist who is open to the homeschool community, I have never met her so I can not speak to how she is with the kids but perhaps you know one of the moms who has taken their kids to one of her 'open house sessions' so you can speak to them and formulate your own opinions. Anyhow, there are four options for taking a class with her, see the information below on who to contact and where to sign up:
Option #1: Private lessons, $20 an hour at her home
Contact Barbara at the information below to register for these classes.
Option #2:Hi, All!
This is Chris, and those of you who know me know I can't draw worth
squat. (In fact, those of your from the E.M. Science Club are
probably laughing your heads off at the thought!) So of course I
gotta get a pro to teach Lynne how to draw a mars lander that
doesn't look like a flattened dog, etc.
Barbara Besser is teaching a small class for 6 weeks starting in
January, most probably at our house (near Tramway & Indian School).
Instead of each class being a drop-in arrangement, each will build
on the drawing techniques taught at the previous class.
We'll meet on Mondays, 2pm
Jan 8th - Feb. 12th.
Small fee ($30 per person for all six classes) for Barbara
and a simple supply list (pencils, sketchpad, etc) required.
If you'd like more info, just drop me an email or give me a call:
306-1866.
Happy Homeschooling!
:) -Chris chrislanter4@yahoo.com
Contact Chris at her information above to find out more about these classes or you can call Barbara to ask specific questions.
Option #3:
Another class is available at the artist's home on Mondays at 12:30 if there is any interest. See her information below on how to contact her about this time slot.
Contact Barbara at her information below about setting up a class in this time slot.
Option #4:
Westside classes (yes I said that, the West Side of Albuquerque, none of you faint now)
These would take place at Taylor Ranch Community Center.
http://www.cabq.gov/communitycenters/TaylorRanchCommunityCenter.html
6 weeks course
Tuesdays
Ages 4-7, from 10-11:30AM
Ages 8 and up, from 12-1:30PM
Supplies needed: Blank Spiral Notebook & an 11x15" water color pad (Barbara will provide all other supplies.)
Cost: $6.50 per class
((She has said we could come to the first class and see if it is a good fit for parents and kids.))
Class size is limited to 6-7 kids per age group.
Reply back to me (Tabbi) and I will get the class roster to Barbara...if someone is interested in keeping this running and organized on the westside feel free to step up and let me know! Should things go well we will be able to keep this class time and room until the summer programs start at the Community Center.
