NMMuseum of Natural History & Science, A question for the homeschool community

First, let me extend my sincere thanks to all who turned out for our Mars day last week. It was a great success and another similar event, Ravens, is being planned for the last Wednesday in March. I'll forward details when I receive them.

Second, there is a remote possibility that I would be able to offer a summer ecology research class -- I'm toying with several ideas including another Beaver Week with Paul Polechla or a multi-week ecology class. There is resistance to this idea because of the extremely poor response/low enrollment of previous similar offerings. Still I'd like to try again. So I'm sending out the question: Is there interest? Could we reach a minimum enrollment of 12 students?

I know cost has been a factor in the past. I'm thinking that we could offer a three week basic ecology for mid-grade/aged students for something like $60 per student with the possibility of cost-reductions for multiple students from the same family and museum members. I'm not sure what Beaver week would cost, probably around $100 per student because we'd have to pay Paul for his time.

This is not a formal course offering. At this time I am merely surveying to see if there is interest. Have people email me directly so I can get a sense of how much interest there is: linda.fey@state.nm.us I need to make a decision by March 15th.

As always, I'm interested in hearing what you have to say.
