On Campus
NMMI Representative will be in the Career Center on Tuesday, March 27, between 11:00 and 1:00. NMMI offers a full junior college program, and is an alternate means of entering US military service academies.

Student Loans
NY Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has been in the news lately because of his investigation into the student loan industry. Here is a link to a good brochure on the subject prepared by his office. If you are considering using loans to pay for any part of post-secondary education, it is worth a read.

Scholarships
NM Association of School Business Officials offer several $1000 scholarships to students who will be attending college in New Mexico and who plan to pursue an education-related degree. We have applications.

Remember that most of the Local Scholarships have a postmark deadline of April 5th. The LAPS Foundation Scholarship information is available separately.

Summer in Egypt – Full Scholarship
We have just received information about this program from our local AFS representative. There is not much time, but it is a great opportunity.
AFS Intercultural Programs has 25 full-tuition scholarships for an intensive summer language and cultural immersion program in Egypt (June 30-August 13, 2007. Applicants must be between the ages of 15-17. Nominations deadline is April 2. Application deadline is April 9. For more information go to http://www.usa.afs.org/usa_en/news/article/3733 . You may also contact Sandy Tobin 662-2057.

Leadership Programs
Boys' State, Girls' State, and Camp RYLA
Boys' State will be held in Portales from June 3 through June 8. Girls' State will be held from May 27 through June 1, also in Portales. These programs are for current juniors. Applications are available from Nancy Jaffe in the Guidance Office.
The Rotary Club's Camp RYLA is open to current juniors, and current sophomores may also apply. This program is held later in July. Applications for RYLA are in the Career Center, should be returned by the end of school on the 30th. While Camp RYLA seems to be less well known than Boys' and Girls' State, it is a tremendous opportunity.
