On Campus
NMMI РNew Mexico Military Institute Tuesday, March 27, 11:00 Р1:00. NMMI is a full junior college, in addition to being a secondary boarding school. NMMI's Junior College program can be an alternate path to the US Military Service Academies for students who have either been denied interest their first time applying or who have decided they want to attend an academy too late in their high school careers to acquire the necessary resum̩.

Local Scholarship Application:
Sorry if I created I misunderstanding when I said the application could be filled out online. To be more specific, the form can be downloaded and completed electronically using MS Word, but a hard copy with signatures must be returned.

Scholarship
The Los Alamos Chapter of ASMI, professional society for those in materials science, will offer two $1,000 and up to four $500 scholarships to seniors intending to study materials science, materials engineering, or other physical science. Pick up info in Career Center, April 1 deadline.

SUMMER
CAMP RYLA: Great Free Summer Leadership Opportunity: a qualified junior will get preference over current sophomores
If you've been thinking of Boys'/Girls' State, consider applying to be the Rotary Club's RYLA student. Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) is held July 15 through 21 for girls, July 21 through 27 for boys, located in the Manzano Mountains. All camp costs are paid for by the LA Rotary Club. This really is a super opportunity for students to hone their leadership skills and meet with students from throughout NM and TX, good resumé item for service academies. Free Summer Science Opportunity for Sophomores and Juniors
ASMI sponsors a free weeklong summer camp for students with an interest in Materials Science. This is a competitive program, deadline is March 31. Program is for "highly motivated and inquisitive learners with demonstrated math and science aptitude, science fair participation is a plus." The local chapter of ASMI may be able to offer some assistance with transportation costs to an accepted student who is short of funds, as camps are in OH, MO, PA. Summer Child Care
Parent seeks responsible and mature current junior or senior to provide minimal child care for her 3-year-old son between June 4th and July 28th, between two and four days a week, to be determined, about 8 hours per week. The student would have to guarantee availability for the entire period, with exception of July 4th. Responsibilities included general care, snacks, playing—especially outside—and generally making sure the child is safe and cared for. Job could possibly be shared by two students. Mountainair Cleaners, located across from Pizza Hut, is looking for two part-time employees for after-school work, could be up to about 20 hours per week. The positions are for counter/customer service workers, and involve taking in clothing, writing tickets, working cash register, folding, etc. Starting pay is $5.50 per hour.
