Los Alamos:LA Cafe Scientifique

If any of you know other young adults interested in being on the
leadership team for the LA Cafe Scientifique, please tell them we are
having our next meeting this Thursday. We will meet during the LAHS
lunch period from 12:40-1:20 at UNM-LA Bldg 2 in the Student Government room.
I will have pizza for them. The leadership team is open to any interested youth aged 14-18 as are all of our Cafe meetings.

At the meeting, we will learn to use our new networking application.
The tool will help us develop blogs to discuss cafe topics, plan meetings
and other activities, and make new friends with people in the cafe programs

across the state. We will also begin planning for a joint leadership
training to be held on either Nov 17 or Nov 18, depending on youth
commitments.

You can check it out at www.scieds.com/elgg. The discussions among the
youth are open for public viewing, once we get started.

Current YLT members include: Benigno Sandoval, Thomas and Rob Lebrun,
Darrell Beckman, Seth Holsapple, Cameron Baier, Brad Lungstrom, Arthur
Mitchell, Kyle Mooday and Mathew Flores. We desperately need some
additional girls to sign on. In Espanola, I have 15 girls and 2 boys
for their YLT. Not sure what is causing these imbalances in gender on the
teams.

Other tidbits - one does not have to be on the leadership team to
participate in the Cafe. All Cafe meetings are open to anyone aged
14-18. We plan to have our first Cafe presentation in January. We are
struggling to pick an evening with the fewest number of conflicts so that most
kids can attend if interested. If you have suggestions, preferences or
guidance on the day that has the least after school/evening conflicts, I am
interested.

Thanks for your continued support of the Cafe Scientifique program,

Michelle
