Online Course, The Renaisance World, thru Grace Baptist Church

Attention Home School Families!

You are invited to register your middle school aged children to participate in an online, interactive course titled The Renaissance World and sponsored by Grace Baptist Church in Cape Coral, Florida (www.gbc-capecoral.com).

Using cutting-edge, Internet based technology and common computer components such as speakers, a microphone and a web cam, students will study a portion of world history in a very controlled yet interactive online environment. Middle School aged students can see and hear their teacher during “class”, can send questions and receive answers in real time at the teacher’s discretion via chat, and can observe presentations of less tangible concepts through slide shows and white electronic board drawings. Course assignments and tests can be downloaded, completed by the students, and e-mailed, faxed, or mailed back to the teacher.

This course will cover the exciting time in World History when the European nations began to come out of the Dark Ages and make significant advances in exploration, learning and the arts. It was during this time that England , France and Spain emerged as major powers in Europe, the “New World” of the Americas was discovered and explored, and hundreds broke from the Roman Catholic Church during the Protestant Reformation. In the eight weeks of this course we will study important events such as the Black Death, the Spanish Inquisition and the first circumnavigation of the globe as well as important men and women like Prince Henry the Navigator, Martin Luther, and Joan of Arc. Throughout our study we will focus on how God sovereignly works in the events of history to bring about the advance of His Kingdom and His plan for the world.
