You should be aware that the director of Los Alamos Community Winds,
Ted Vives is a registered sex offender. You can check the sex offender website
here: http://www.nmsexoffender.dps.state.nm.us/
This is probably better known among the public school rather than the
home school community. Make an informed decision about weather or not your child will be participating in activities. If they do I would suggest that you are present at all times!

Edited 2/22/08 We knew Ted Vives through Community Winds for several years. Whomever is looking into participating with the group should be more pro-active in their decision. I NEVER had occasion to even slightly question his judgment or intentions.

Participating in Community Winds was one of the best investments we made in our homeschooling adventure and it would be a shame for others to miss out on the same due to an unnecessary fear.

I would encourage parents to be as responsible as they can, regardless of where they are, while still providing balanced and healthy activities for their children.

Like I said, I NEVER had occasion to question Ted's judgments or intentions.
