Let's Talk Parking!

Q. Where can I park when I'm coming to Popejoy for a show?

A. You can pay $6 and park in the parking structure on campus, but did you know that Popejoy has a complimentary service for patrons? For any show, you can park in the G lot on the UNM campus (University and Tucker) for free, and ride the courtesy shuttle directly to Popejoy Hall.

The shuttle is reserved specifically for Popejoy patrons. It begins running 90 minutes before the show, an hour after the show, and continuously throughout the show, so if you have to leave for any reason, you have a ride to the parking lot.

Jay Johnson

Not everyone can claim to have an eclectic group of friends. Jay Johnson brings his friends to Popejoy Hall this April. Among those joining him in his show, The Two and Only, are Bob from the ABC sitcom SOAP, a monkey named Darwin, a talking boa constrictor named Amigo, Spalding the tennis ball, and others.

As a ventriloquist, Jay Johnson brings a cast of characters. Having trained since he was a child, Jay Johnson has performed for years, honing his talent. The Two and Only marks the Tony® Award-winning Broadway debut for him and his friends.

Schooltime Series

For twelve seasons, Popejoy's Schooltime Series has provided creative performances to students. This program is funded by your generous donations, and over 33,000 children annually have been exposed to live performances suited to specific age groups.

Children might see an abridged version of Shakespeare, a dance favorite like The Nutcracker, or the history and science shows performed in the series.

As part of Popejoy's Schooltime Series, each classroom is provided with a study guide, giving detailed information about the performance and outlining activities that may relate the show to what the students are studying in the classroom. Students from all different schools attend these shows, including public and private schools and homeschoolers. The goal of the program is to inspire students creatively and instruct them intellectually.
