Vendors:
We would like to invite you to be a part of our New Mexico Home School Community Fair 2008.

Here is some basic background and information on our community. I saw a need for more connection within the homeschooling community so that families could be aware of events and classes that might enhance their learning experiences as many of us use our community as a part of our classroom. I started by collecting email addresses and it has now grown to connect over 250 individuals and groups throughout the State of New Mexico as well as bordering states. Thus New Mexico Home School Community was born. This is a volunteer position and does not cost anything to the community. If you are interested in reading more about our activities check out our blog http://nmhomeschoolcommunity.blogspot.com/ which we use as a virtual bulletin board as well as maintaining the private email list and the yahoo group.

I offer monthly support meetings on various topics as well as these swap and sales which have grown to include curriculum and resources such as yourselves. This enables the homeschoolers or those interested in homeschooling to come and see what it is all about and talk to families from many different groups which will be represented. The last event such as this drew approximately 350 people and we hope to just continue to grow. The next event will be held in May 2008 at the same location so plan ahead if you wish to get a table!

So you are all a valuable resource for these thousands of families it is just a matter of getting the word out. I sincerely hope that you come away with a better understanding of our community and our needs as we educate our children.

We hope that if resources and staffing allow you will consider coming to our event. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via email or phone.

There are 3 PDFs attached to this Directions, Lodging (for those of you traveling in from other parts of NM) and the Registration form which can be filled out and returned to me via email (Either fill out and scan and send or cut and paste into the body of an email.)

Please read this for all the information! This is A LOT of information so please email me with any questions after you have read this email.

Consider carefully this HUGE opportunity for our homeschooling community not only is this going to be advertised throughout the State of New Mexico but the entire Southwestern US as well as nationally!

What: New Mexico Home School Community Fair 2008

When: Saturday, May 31, 2008

Time: 9-3 (with the doors being open from 8:30-3:30PM)

Where: Central New Mexico's Workforce Training Center 5600 Eagle Rock Avenue NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113 (Directions on MapQuest are incorrect please use attached flyer for directions.)

Remember this is all being sponsored free of charge by Central New Mexico so I can only work within the boundaries of the resources provided.

There are only 25 tables currently available as reserved for vendors. If you have an educational related business, teach, tutor, are a local organization that holds classes or events homeschoolers might be interested in we are classifying you as a vendor. I might have more space inside once I get a final table count from CNM and will go down the list of people as tables open up. All vendors who are not reserved a table inside will be required to have a space outside. We have a large parking lot that will be blocked off and accessible only to foot traffic and will be set up in assigned rows. Those of you who reserve a space outside will be required to bring your own tables and tents. More information on specifics is below.

You MUST check-in BEFORE you set up. Check in will be at the table at the entrance of the main conference room. You will then receive the space number where you will be located.

Tables and entrance to the event are free. Donations accepted.

Everyone must be completely set up by 8:30AM, doors officially open at 9AM.

I will provide email reminders to everyone on my list.

Please provide me with a paragraph and link about yourself or your organization so that I may add it to my email advertisement. Flyers will be distributed but will not include detailed information about each group attending.

If you must cancel please give me at least 2 weeks notice before the event.

Here is my information in case you need to get in touch with me before or during the event Tabitha Orr, 792-4110 Home, 514-3969 Cell...until the event email is the best way to contact me NMHomeschoolCommunity@gmail.com

This is a homeschooling conference this is not to put down other forms of educational choice or learning. We want to support anyone who wants to be empowered in their child's and family's choice of education!

You are responsible for your own money and neither CNM nor myself are responsible for any issues with any transaction, that is between buyer and seller, we are not to be held liable.

If you have to leave your table for any length of time please do not leave valuables behind. This event is open to the public.

PLEASE NOTE: Children are more than welcome, as this is a family event, but they must be monitored as this event will be opened to the public and childcare or a specific child area WILL NOT be provided.

Please respect CNM who have so graciously allowed us to use their facilities free of charge. Food and drinks are allowed but please snack responsibly and clean up after yourselves! We will have food vendors available!

I offer monthly support meetings on various topics as well as these fairs which have grown to include used curriculum sales and resources such as yourselves. This enables the homeschoolers or those interested in homeschooling to come and see what it is all about and talk to families from many different groups which will be represented. The last event such as this drew approximately 700 people and we hope to just continue to grow.

Just for information as to the numbers of homeschoolers in New Mexico, as of March 2007 there were 7,183 families registered with the State. That does not include the numbers of individual children just families as a whole and since homeschoolers tend to be non-conformist you can generally double that number for the amount that might not register for one reason or another. National statistics number homeschoolers in the millions.

You are all a valuable resource for these thousands of families it is just a matter of getting the word out. I sincerely hope that you come away with a better understanding of our community and our needs as we educate our children.

OK on to the information FINALLY:

Inside Vendors:

There will be two options a 'booth' of three tables set in a 'U' shape or a single table (tables are 5'x30") Those of you that do not need the space of a booth please choose the single table option, such as teachers, small organizations, etc. as we have more space than last time but we really need to leave the booths to the larger organizations.

Set up can begin as early as 7AM or arrangements can be made for the night before and rooms will remain locked until the 6:30AM Saturday. Myself or my other volunteers will not be responsible for your materials left at the tables once the doors are unlocked.

Doors to the event will open at 8:30AM with the fair officially starting at 9 and clean up can start at 3PM and the rooms must be cleared of all materials before 4:30PM.

You will NOT have access to a dolly so you must provide your own willing bodies to move heavy items in and out of the building.

If you want to sit next to someone you need to tell me right away so that I can put you on our seating chart as spots will be assigned.

If I have already spoken to you regarding attending this event please just fill out the registration form and return it to confirm your participation. If I have spoken to you about arrangements those are still in place.

Outside Vendors:

The advantage of being outside is you will have more space available!!! You will also be able to drive right up to load and unload. This location is where the larger demonstrations will be held as well as the CABQ's Rock Climbing Wall, APD and AFD as well as some other entities that do not fit the inside location.

You are responsible for setting up and taking down your own materials there will be no access to manpower or dollies unless they are your own.

You must provide a table and tent.

The tent can be no larger than 10'x10'...if you only have a access to a tent that is 12'x12' please let me know immediately and I will accommodate you and put you in an outside spot. No tents larger than 12'x12'!

You can have no more than 2 tables, no longer than 6' long set in an 'L' shape or parallel to each other.

Set up is as early as 7AM. You will be able to drive your vehicle to your spot after that time but ONLY to drop off and pick up. Please park your vehicle before beginning to set up to allow for others access to their spaces. Vehicles will then be allowed back in at 3:30PM and all materials must be cleared out by 4:30PM.

You are responsible for your children in the morning when there will be vehicles coming in and out of that area. After 8:30AM this area will only be accessible to foot traffic.

You will not have access to electricity.

If you want to sit next to a certain person please let me know immediately as spots will be assigned with our seating chart.

These rules above are to be followed and by signing up you are agreeing to these rules. If you have any suggestions or questions please email them to me and they will be taken under consideration.

Demonstrations:

If you would like to have a demonstration, performance or presentation we have available three locations.

1. A Classroom setting with access to audio/visual components. This can be used in half hour increments, 15 minutes of presentation, 10 minutes of question/answer session. Starting at noon with the last time slot at 2PM.

2. We have a courtyard outside the entrance on the west side of the building for AM demonstrations and east side of the building for afternoon for smaller demonstrations. These can also be used in half hour increments starting at 9AM. The parking lot for the event is around the entire building so you will have foot traffic.

3. The SE parking lot would be the preferred demonstration location. I will have a space available specifically for smaller demonstrations ( I am hoping to have a tent for these roughly 10'x10'). This would also be the location for larger demonstrations such as small theater, K9, gymnastics and fencing. I can not provide a tent big enough for these larger demonstrations but the building is positioned so that there will be shade at the hottest parts of the day.

One suggestion for smaller demonstrations/presentations consider having them in at your tent location (if you are outside).

For any questions or if I have forgotten anything please let me know!
