Sometimes growth is a natural progression, and sometimes a it's painful course. When I proposed that the ABQ Homeschool Co-op "Grow" to include Tweens and Teens, I didn't stop to consider the changes that it would take for the Co-op to implement it. After many discussions, it was determined that Tweens and Teens would be better suited as it's own entity and not part of the Co-op.
Round two.... The name "Tweens and Teens" is already in use by another group, so we needed a new one.
Round 3.... We made it!! We are now up and running as ABQ Homeschool High. We opened a Yahoo group and would like to invite all homeschool families in the greater Albuquerque area to join us in this adventure. The group is designed for kids 10-18, but if you have a 9 year old that you feel would benefit, please feel free to sign up! As we move forward we will be offering classes for the real world, including business and finance basics. We also have some great projects planned that will offer our kids the opportunity to run their own business and get a first hand taste! For events, we are going to let the kids decide. Skating, movie night etc... The choice is theirs. At this age, it's important to let them have some control and we intend to give it to them.
