It's that time of year again--the days are cooling off and the holidays are right around the corner. That makes it the perfect time of year to attend a booksigning event! Everyone loves autographed books, so stock up for the holidays right now (plus, we giftwrap for free!).

From the books that have been in the national spotlight, like Valerie Plame Wilson's, to fun annual events like Elegant Autumn Evening, we have something for everyone this month. The Key to Grandpa's House (UNM, $14.95)
From brother and sister duo Cristina and Armando, of the Ortega weaving family of Northern NM, comes a story of their beloved grandfather. All are welcome at the house of Grandpa Ortega, and he leaves a key under a rock outside his home for friends and family to use. This beautiful children's story centers on their family's life, and is written by Cristina and illustrated by Armando, who is also a member of the Spanish/African band Wagogo.
Cristina will also sign The Eyes of the Weaver.

Douglas Kent Hall is one of the great documentarians of his generation, and has photographed and written about New Mexico's unique blend of places and people in this broad representation that includes ancient sites and Spanish churches, Indian ceremonial dances, portraits of artists and writers, vecinos and vagabonds, and more. In New Mexico Light is a celebration of New Mexico's contradictions and splendor in the photographs and words of a master observer.

The object of the CIA leak case and the resulting conviction of the Vice-President's chief of staff, Scooter Libby, has spoken publicly very infrequently since she was outed in July 2003. Now, in her new book, she tells not only the real story behind the leak, but describes her life at the CIA and what happened when her cover was blown.
She will speak briefly, take questions, and sign books.

The universal solace of the natural world as well as the unique gifts of a wilderness area in an urban setting shine through the words and watercolors contained in this jewel of a book.

Joseph Traugott will also be signing his new book of over 50 color woodblock prints by master Gustave Baumann. Also, celebrate Bookworks' 23rd birthday with CAKE!

Historic New Mexico Churches tells the story of New Mexico through its churches; their history and legends and the people who built them add up to a fascinating history of the state. The photographer and author of the book will show their work and sign.
Also taste samples from the newest cookbook from the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. This second cookbook features 200 recipes from chefs, artists, celebrities, and supporters of the Museum, and representatives will be on hand to discuss it and eat!

Honored with a Guggenheim Retrospective, Joel-Peter Witkin joins us upon his return to Albuquerque from openings in Barcelona and London. Known for his fetishistic detail, his elaborate tableaux address the morbid, the erotic, and the religious. Eduard Steichen selected one of Witkin's photos for the permanent collection in the Museum of Modern Art. Signing to follow.

In more than one hundred stunning color photos, world-renowned photographer David Muench captures New Mexico's history and deep cultural roots, the magical quality of light in our state, and its breathtakingly beautiful landscape. Images include a kaleidoscope of hot air balloons floating in a vividly blue sky, the virgin white ski slopes of Taos, and the haunting ruins of the Spanish missions, among many others.
In Plateau Light, landscapes of the Colorado Plateau are accompanied by excerpts from Muench's photojournal, and in Arizona, he shows our neighbor state's trademark red rock, desert sands, and wildflowers.
