Mother Road Theatre Company’s First Annual PREBUT!!
WHEN: 2 Weekends Only! November 30, December 1, 2, 7, 8, 9
8:00pm curtain Friday and Saturday, 2:00pm on Sunday
WHERE: The Filling Station (see below), 1024 Fourth Street SW, Albuqueruque, 87102. It's at the corner of 4th and Pacific in Barelas and there's plenty of parking!
RESERVATIONS: Call 505-873-4831. These are benefit performances for the Theatre Company and admission is FREE with a $15 suggested donation.
Our Prebut (pronounced pree-byoo) is our introduction to Albuquerque audiences. It is also a chance for our audience to have a say in the shows we produce. Mother Road Theatre Company will have a showing of 6 scenes from plays that embody the “Open Road” theme.
These plays are:
The Fair Maid of the West by Thomas Heywood, adapted by James C. Leary & Damasco Rodriguez. A swash-buckling pirate adventure.
Hellcab by Will Kern. A new cab driver on the streets of Chicago at Christmas, what strange character will open the cab door next?
The Weir by Conor McPherson. An evening of ghost stories in the local pub turns on the storytellers.
On The Verge by Eric Overmyer. Three Victorian lady explorers set out on an adventure that takes them to darkest Africa, highest Himalaya and Terra Incognita....
Angels Fall by Lanford Wilson. A small mission church in a remote part of New Mexico, where a college professor and his young wife detour unexpectedly after the highway is closed due to an "accident" at a nearby nuclear facility.
The Odyssey by David Farr. Odysseus is washed up on shore and picked up and interrogated by Immigration about his “travels”.
The Audience will vote for their favorite piece and that will become our Debut show in 2008. Two of the shows not picked for the Debut will round out our season. These will not be determined until after the Prebut. We will make the announcement of our first season at Motherroad.org!
