Chris Calloway

Chris began her career on the Ed Sullivan show with an introduction to the world by her Dad, 30 years ago. For 20 years she performed with her father and his Hi De Ho Orchestra. In 1999 she re-formed the Hi De Ho Orchestra for the internationally acclaimed JVC Jazz Festival in New York City, which led to a 55- city big band tour called “Cab Calloway’s Legacy of Swing.” In 2001, Chris wrote and starred in “Clouds of Joy,” the story of her Aunt Blanche, who was in show business while her brother Cab was still in high school. Blanche Calloway was the only known black female to front an “all male” band in 1931. This year, 2007, marks 77 years of show business history for the Calloway family. Chris was born into and grew up with this legacy. She is original yet authentic within this style and she has earned her place in her family’s tradition.

Two Nations Benefit Concert

Red Paint Intertribal Council Benefit Concert Presents "Two Nations". The concert will benefit the 5th Annual Red Paint Powwow. Two Nations consists of Gabriel Ayala (Yaqui) classical guitarist and Vince Redhouse (Navajo) native flute. GABRIEL AYALA,(Yaqui)classical guitarist, is one of the up and comming musicians of his time. He received his Master of Music degree from the University of Arizona. Gabriel has taught in all levels of education from elementary to college which has helped him to become a leading pedagogue of the guitar. Gabriel performs extensively throughout the United States. In 2003 Gabriel released his self-titled debut CD and was nominated for the Native American Music Awards, otherwise known as the NAMMYS, for "Best Independent Recording". In addition to being a solo classical guitarist, Gabriel promotes Native culture through tradional singing and dancing. Gabriel is working on the production of two new CD's to be released in 2007. VINCE
REDHOUSE,(Navajo), began playing music at 6 years old. Vince attended the Academy of Arts/Humanities, a private music school, under the direction of German professor Axel Duwe. Vince is known as a saxophone jazz musician, as well as, the Native American flute. Gabriel and Vince felt there was a good match between classical guitar and the native flute. The sound that both instruments convey is a melodic sound in which the guitar and flute mesh together. They are hoping to help break stereotypes of native musicians linking them to a certain genre and wish to expand the classical repertoire, flamenco, contemporary and original compositions. Separately they are both well respected within their own fields.

Many terrorists come to America legally and hang around on expired visas (some for as long as 10-15 years). Now take Blockbuster, for example: you're two days late with a video rental and those people are all over you. I think we should put Blockbuster in charge of US immigration!
