Oklahoma City University is getting ready to give you a summer you won't
forget! We're already hard at work planning the 2008 OCU Summer Programs and
have some exciting news!
We are pleased to announce that the High School Musical Theater Program will
be presenting a fully staged production of Stephen Sondheim's "Sweeney
Todd." This amazing musical, considered by many to be one of the best
musicals ever written, will be seen on movie screens this holiday season
starring Johnny Depp. Dr. David Herendeen, Director of OCU's Opera & Musical
Theater Department, will direct an innovative and groundbreaking production.
The 2008 High School Theater Institute will present Shakespeare's classic,
"A Midsummer Night's Dream." This comedy, which features lovers, liars, and
fairies, will be presented in a fantastic new setting.
We are still in process of securing rights for our Junior High Musical
Theater show and hope to have it announced in December.
Each summer, hundreds of students from around the nation are selected to
participate in our renowned summer intensives, which Backstage Magazine has
selected as one of the nation's top summer training programs.
Auditions are required for admission. For audition requirements, please
visit: http://www.okcu.edu/music/academy/summerprg.aspx. DVD auditions will
be accepted beginning December 1st. Students who submit an audition by
February 10th (and are accepted) will receive 10% off their summer tuition.
Scholarships are available for those selected for their state's Music
Educator's "All-State" program and those recognized by the NFAA Arts Awards.
Financial aid consideration is also available. Early application is advised
as admission is on a first-applied basis.
