LAS CRUCES — The Rev. Steve Loy and his wife, Martha Rowe, spent part of their summer sabbaticals building a labyrinth in their back yard.
The Talavera couple started their home project last October and finished it up this week after some research — online and during a May visit to Chartres Cathedral in France — and a lot of rock hauling. Their backyard creation is modeled on the famed Chartres labyrinth, with a Southwestern twist: its intricate circular patterns are formed with good old desert rocks and Loy was careful to preserve the existing vegetation outside the couple's modern adobe home.
