This controversial story features Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch, a small-town Southern lawyer who defends a black man in a rape trial, and Mary Badham as his daughter, Scout, through whose eyes much of the story is seen. It was also the big screen debut of Robert Duvall, who plays the eccentric Boo Radley.
The six-year-old Scout narrates the story of how racial tensions in her Alabama town skyrocketed while her father defended a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman. Released in 1962, the film earned a number of Oscars and Golden Globe awards.
