Join us for Montessori Based Elementary Math at Heights Community Center. Classes are held every other Thursday from 10-11:30 in the craft area.

We met for the first time last week, and Lyndi is awesome. She held the attention of all the children. They were really having fun with math!

We will be meeting again tomorrow to change the Thursday track we are on. So, we'll be doing every other Thursday beginning with November 15th. There will be a few Thursdays we do not meet due to holidays or the building already being reserved for another AHL event.

Most of the current kids are in the early elementary years, but she has the talent to work with other ages as well.

If you would like to attend, please email Kari at adagioacademy@comcast.net. __________________________________________________________________________

The children will have the opportunity to participate in various math centers organized by Lyndi Spears who has lots of experience tutoring children of various ages in Math. They will be mostly Montessori based. To help with the cost of materials, there will be a $5 fee per child for the session, which will run through the end of this school year.

She plans to introduce the children to the following concepts, adapting as needed to fit the needs of the children in the classes:

Counting

Recognizing and writing numerals

Simple and dynamic addition

Simple and dynamic subtraction

Simple and dynamic multiplication

Simple and dynamic distributive division

Group division

Fractions - identification and nomenclature (we can do addition and subtraction, multiplication and division too but this is not usually in the curriculum for this age group)

Squares of numbers

Cubes of numbers

Introduction to the binomial cube

Geometric forms: circles; triangles; quadrilaterals; polygons; irregular figures

Geometric solids
