For Free Homework Help come to Mesa Public Library (3:30-5:30 p.m. M, T, Th, and 1-5:30 p.m. W) and to White Rock Branch Library (3:30-5:30 p.m. M). Tutors are available to help students in all subjects. They can listen to a child read, review spelling words, help with math assignments, find books and materials for reports or speeches, etc.

Youth who are ages 8 to 16 are invited to come to Mesa Public Library to join our Junior Volunteer program. Students work with the volunteer coordinator to straighten bookshelves, Xerox flyers, create bulletin boards, run errands, recycle, etc. Students may earn a Junior Volunteer T-shirt as they learn new skills and provide a real service to the library. WaL (Wednesday at the Library) schedule for October for kids 6-11 from 2-3:30 for all crafts and 2:00-4:00 for movies and DDR. Oct. 3 -paper craft in Youth Services Program Room; Oct. 10 - movie - Arthur and the Invisibles on the 3rd floor; Oct. 17 - hemp jewelry making in Youth Services Program Room; Oct. 24 - Dance Dance Revolution on the 3rd floor, October 31st Halloween crafts and treats in the first floor program room. Come in your costumes.

Family friendly film series continue at the White Rock Town Hall on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m. The movie will be Chill out Scooby-Doo. Come enjoy a movie and free popcorn.

Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meets October 9, 4:30-5:30 on the third floor in meeting room 1. If you’re between ages 13-18 and are interested in helping plan teen activities and select teen media for the library, this is the place for you. Snacks and DDR will follow.

Battle of the Books cookie chats will begin October 29 at Mesa Public Library in Youth Services from 4:00-5:00 p.m. and on October 30 in White Rock from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Come nibble cookies and discuss the wonderful new selection of books for the 2008 battle.

New Mexico Dance Theater and Los Alamos County Library System present Literacy in Motion an exhibition of photos, costumes and stories behind the NMDT Performance Company’s past and future productions. A Gala Opening Reception will be held in the Upstairs Art Gallery on Monday, October 1st from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The display will be in the Upstairs Art Gallery at Mesa Public Library from October 1-29.
