Los Alamos: Choral Opportunity

Director Doyle Preheim of the Sangre de Cristo Chorale (a 50-voice
community choir) sends word of this year's Outreach Workshop for a
chosen high-school-level choir. They are looking for interested
youth in grades 7-12 who would like to participate. Their goal is to
get 50 students from Northern New Mexico to participate, and they
wanted the homeschool community to know about this event, which will
be offered at no charge to the students.

The workshop will consist of rehearsals with training in
musicianship, voice training and choir techniques on the following
dates:
Saturday, February 9: 10am - 1 pm
Saturday, February 16 10am - 1 pm
Saturday, February 23 10 am - 1 pm
Sunday February 24, 3:00 pm Free Public Concert at St. Francis
Auditorium in Santa Fe

Members of the chorale will assist in the workshops, and the concert
will be joint with the youth choir and the chorale, with some numbers
separately, and some joint.

Any 7th - 12th grade student who is currently singing in a choir
(like LAHC or a church choir) or taking voice lessons or taking
instrumental lessons will not have to audition. They need to call
the director to get on the list of students.

Any other 7th - 12th graders (not in choir or taking lessons) needs
to call the director to schedule a November audition to see if they
can match pitch. Music reading is not a requirement.

Deadline for calling the director is October 31, 2007,

Any students on the list will receive two complementary tickets to
the Sangre de Cristo fall concert free of charge. Since students are
already admitted free of charge, this will enable the students to
bring parents or other adults to the concert with them. The fall
concert will be:
Sunday, November 4, 2:30 pm at Santa Maria de la Paz.
The list of eligible students will be at the door, and the students
only need to report with their names to the door on the day of the
concert.
