For Free Homework Help come to Mesa Public Library 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and 1:00-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and to White Rock Branch Library 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday They can listen to a child read, review spelling words, help with math assignments, find books and materials for reports or speeches, etc.
Youth who are ages 8 to 16 are invited to come to Mesa Public Library to join our Junior Volunteer program. Students work with the volunteer liaison to straighten bookshelves, Xerox flyers, create bulletin boards, run errands, recycle, etc. Students may earn a Junior Volunteer T-shirt as they learn new skills and provide a real service to the library. Stop by the YS desk or call 662-8258 for further information. We are pleased to start this program again with our new liaison.

Family Friendly Film Series – White Rock Town Hall – 7:00p.m. November 15th. Our movie will be Ratatouille. Come watch the movie and enjoy free popcorn.
Bookmark Contest - To celebrate Children's Book Week November 12-18, Los Alamos County Library System is once again sponsoring a bookmark contest for children ages 4-18. Pick up a form at the Youth Services desk in Los Alamos or the front desk in White Rock. Please use the proper form and be sure to clearly print your name, age, and phone number. Winners will be notified by phone. All entries must be returned by November 30. You may turn your entry in at any public service desk. Prizes will be given in several age groups and winners will be announced in December. Entries will be judged in three categories: encouraging kids to read, creativity, artistic merit. Enter as many times as you wish. You may see sample bookmarks at the Youth Services desk. Please call 662-8258 or email mailto:ysweb@lacnm.us if you have any questions.
Literacy in Motion Bookmark - November also brings an opportunity for children ages 0-11 to get a neat bookmark from New Mexico Dance Theater in support of their collaborative effort with the library, Literacy in Motion. During the last two weeks of November, read any two books from our special list of titles about snowflakes and stars, then stop by the Youth Services desk in Los Alamos or the service desk in White Rock and pick up your bookmark.
Emergence: A New View of Life’s Origins – A traveling science exhibit from the Santa Fe Institute will be in the Upstairs Art Gallery from November 1-29. There will be a talk by Harold Morowitz of George Mason University and Santa Fe Institute and a reception on Monday, November 19th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The Big Read – Join us on November 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs rotunda for a discussion of Bless Me, Ultima.
TAG – Teen Advisory Group meets November 6 and November 27 in Meeting Room 1 on the third floor from 4:30 – 5:30. If you’re between ages 13-18 and are interested in helping plan teen activities or help select teen books, please join us.
Cookie Chats – We will have cookie chats to discuss Battle of the Books on Tuesday, November 13th in White Rock from 3:30-4:30 and on Monday, November 19th at Mesa Public Library from 4:00-5:00.
Bilingual Story Time – We will have a bilingual storytime with Patricia Burnside on November 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the Youth Services Department.
