A reception following the readings will be held upstairs in the San Pasquale Cantina.

Join ALT as they present staged readings of four new works by playwrights from New Mexico and the Four Corners! These fresh, funny and provocative plays have been work-shopped by an ensemble of six of Albuquerque's brightest talents including Robert Barnes, John Hardman, Benjamin Lieberman, Isabela Montes
Susan Stroupe and Cyndie Suniga. Plays will be presented in a Reader's Theatre format. Included in the evening is an intermission with complementary coffee and cookies and a talk-back with the actors and director. Feedback is absolutely essential to the development of new plays, so patron participation is greatly appreciated! The evening will last approximately two hours.

The Plays and their Authors:

Theatre Arts by Walter L. Newton - A commentary on the art of theatre by two of history's most enigmatic and irritating playwrights.

Holy Couch by Edith Weiss - If Jesus suddenly appeared in your living room, would you offer him a confession or a beer?

Yogurt Security by Robert F. Benjamin and Elaine Jarvik - Should Gloria and Henry "slurp it or chuck it"? The paradoxes of aging and airport screenings.

At The Far End Of The Garden by Scott Gibson - Three strangers snowed-in at a bus depot. And a mysterious town that doesn't want them to leave.

What is the Studio Series?

The Albuquerque Little Theatre has included in its offerings a program devoted to the workshop and performance of new dramatic work. Staged readings of new works will be presented throughout the 2007-08 Season at ALT: Free to subscribers and ALT ticket holder OR $5.00 General Admission at the door. ALT's goal is to offer new playwrights an opportunity to hear and see their work for further development, to provide actors with a unique experience in developing a character from the ground up in collaboration with the playwrights, and to present to ALT patrons a new experience: Being part of the process that goes into developing a show from the beginning. Audience members as well as directors, actors and playwrights are encouraged to express their opinions and ideas in a talk-back session following the readings. Ideally, the Studio Series will become a platform for playwrights to develop their work into fully presented productions.

For more information or to set up interviews with the playwrights / cast please contact the director: Theresa Reid at (505) 242-4750 or TReid@swcp.com

Thank you for your help in getting the word out! -Erin
