Albuquerque: EarthScope, Teacher Workshop for Teachers of Middle-High School

Hello everyone,
You are receiving this message because you attended some of our past workshops....we have a great opportunity coming up at the end of the summer that I want to be sure that you know about...this workshop will fill up fast, so if you are interested, please contact August ASAP....just one thing...please note that this particular workshop (since it is actually being run by someone else) is really restricted to teachers of middle to high school earth science and physical science...my apologies to those of you who don't fit that criteria...we will try to come up with something later that will be offered to all...

Explore New Mexico Geology and Geophysics through the EarthScope Program
Tuesday, August 5, 9am to 4pm at the Museum
Limited to teachers of middle through high school earth science and physical science
Each teacher will receive $125 stipend, breakfast/lunch provided, mileage and one-nights hotel available for non-local participants.

EarthScope is a national, decade-long geoscience program to understand the North american continent. Geophysical instruments will move across the continent, acquiring new information about continental evolution and structure. In 2008, instruments will be fully operational throughout New Mexico, allowing us to better understand our state's volcanoes, mountains, seismic activity, and the development of the Rio Grande rift. This is a great opprotunity to learn about new and ongoing geological research that directly relates to New Mexico. This workhop is offered by EarthScope, IRIS< and UNAVCO and hosted by the NMMNHS. You will receive information, suggested activities, and materials you can use in the classroom.

Funding provided by the National Science Foundation
