Winter Reading Program – Our winter reading program will begin January 7th. This year you can read two poetry books from the Youth Services Department or have them read to you. You can also earn prizes by writing a poem of your own and read it to our staff (you can also submit it to the Pajarito Literary Review), you can choose two poems and read them to our staff or you can draw a picture (ages 6 and under please) and explain how your picture tells about the poem.

1000 Acts of Kindness – We challenge you to perform an act of kindness. Between January 14th and February 14th, come into the library and share your act of kindness on a paper heart and get a candy heart. Our goal is to reach 1000 Acts of Kindness. This is a campaign in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. sponsored by the National Do Something Campaign. We want to keep Dr. King’s dream of kindness and justice alive.

Call for Young Authors – Our libraries will again publish your written work (poetry, musical lyrics, short stories, chapters from your novel, etc.) for inclusion in either the 2008 Pajarito Literary Review (through 8th grade) or Moebius (grade 9 and up). Your typed or printed entry (2 typed pages or less) must be received by February 15, 2008. Only one entry per person, please. If more are submitted, one will be chosen.
