Albuquerque Workshop: A Homeschooler's Guide to Science Fairs in New Mexico

A Homeschooler’s Guide to Science Fairs in New Mexico

The New Mexico Science Teachers Association (http://www.nmsta.org/) is sponsoring a free science fair workshop for homeschool parents on Tuesday, March 13, from 7 – 9 p.m. at Title Wave Books (NE corner of Eubank and Constitution in the Princess Jeanne shopping center). Topics will include: science resources, picking a topic, the scientific method, conducting an experiment, preparing a display board, the judging process, and science fairs in New Mexico. Presenters are fellow homeschoolers with prior science fair experience. Handouts and refreshments will be provided – please RSVP to Anne Marie Malone at kammalone@gmail.com so we will have enough snacks.

Thanks to Title Wave Books for allowing us to use their community room! Title Wave is also offering a 15% discount for cash, check or charge purchases (but not trade credit) made before the workshop. They normally close at 6 p.m. but will stay open past 6 p.m. for us to shop.

Central NM Science & Engineering Research Challenge Public Open House
Whether you can make it to the workshop or not, plan to stop by the regional science fair open house! Bring your kids, see the projects, and encourage them to talk to the exhibitors about their projects. (Not all exhibitors will be present, as this is not mandatory.)
When: Friday, March 16, 4 – 6 p.m.
Where: South Johnson Gym, UNM

Please forward to any other homeschoolers who may be interested!

Anne Marie
