On Campus
NMMI – New Mexico Military Institute Tuesday, March 27, 11:00 – 1:00. NMMI is a full junior college, in addition to being a secondary boarding school. NMMI's Junior College program can be an alternate path to the US Miliatry Service Academies for students who have either been denied interest their first time applying or who have decided they want to attend an academy too late in their high school careers to acquire the necessary resumé.
The UNM-LA/LANL Electro-Mechanical Tech Student Training Program is accepting applications through March 9. For information, contact Yohanna Wiuff at UNM-LA for application information. 662-0341.
Local Scholarship Application Available as Word Document, fill out online!
The application is now available as a word document you may fill out online. The section on the LAHS home page has been reworked and there is an obvious link. All applicants are encouraged to use it.
Poetry Contest for Juniors
Princeton University's Program in Creative Writing announces the annual Secondary School Poetry Prize for students currently in 11th grade. First Prize of $500. Applicants may submit up to three poems, postmarked by March 16.
Need-based Scholarship for Seniors
The Michael S. Currier Scholarship Fund was established at the Santa Fe Community Foundation in 2000 to honor the memory of Michael S. Currier. The scholarship fund provides renewable scholarships to low-income students from Northern New Mexico pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited institution. Students should demonstrate exceptional talent, innovative thinking and/or creativity in a specific field of study.
Scholarships are paid to the educational institution in the student's name to subsidize the costs of tuition, fees and books.
Summer Programs: No-cost and High-cost
UNM-LA Summer Bridge Program
The purpose of the Summer Bridge Program is to provide high school graduates with a gradual transition from high school to college and to introduce various educational fields of study. The program also assists students with tutoring and mentoring to strengthen their academic skills through coursework in English and Math. There is no cost for the program, textbooks are loaned to students. On completion of the program, a $200 stipend will be awarded to students with at least a 2.5 GPA. Applications are available from counselors and the Career Center, and those received by April 13th will have priority
