  April 2007—
  Sunday, April 15- Intro to Nature Journaling by Ray Kriese
   10am to 2pm @ Visitor Center Conference room. $5 supply fee per
  participant. Registration required & limited to 15 participants.
  Saturday, April 21- The Mystery of Chaco Canyon by Stephen Brown
   10am & 2 pm @ Visitor Center Conference room. Two free lectures.
  Each lecture audience limited to 25. Registration required.
  Sunday, April 22- Wings Over Petroglyph Bird Identification Hike by Hart
  Schwarz
   8am to 2 pm @ Rinconada Canyon Participants to meet at Visitor
  Center at 8am then carpool to Rinconada Canyon. Bring lunch, water,
  hiking  boots, binoculars. Registration required & limited to 25. Call
  Susanna to register at 899-0205 x332. Free program.
  Saturday, April 28- National Junior Ranger Day
   Hawks Aloft presentation on Visitor Center patio from 10 am to 12pm.
  Ranger led hike @ Boca Negra from 1pm to 3pm. Both programs are
  free.
  May 2007— State Historic Heritage Preservation Month Programs
  Saturday, May 5- Prehistoric Tool Technology of the Southwest
   1pm-3pm @ Visitor Center Conference room.
   Free lecture presented by archeologist Ron Fields. Atlatls, spears,
  stone tools,  projectile points and other ancient American Indian tools
  will be discussed and   shown.
  Sunday, May 6- Piedras Marcadas Talk & Walk by Matt Schmader
   Free lecture taking place at the Open Space Visitor Center from 9am
  -10:30am.
   Free walk at Piedras Marcadas trail (Golf Course & Jill Patricia)
  from 12-3pm. Contact Susanna at 899-0205 x332 for information and
  driving directions.Registration required for each of these programs &
  limited to 30 participants per program.
  Sunday, May 13- Annual Mother’s Day Hike @ Volcanoes by Jack Babcock
   Participants to meet at the Volcanoes Day Use area parking lot (off
  Paseo del   Volcan 4.8 miles north of I-40). Hike begins at 9am and
  will last   until 11am. Bring water, snack, and dress appropriately
  for day’s weather conditions. Free program. Registration required &
  limited to 25.
  Saturday, May 19- Annual Navajo Rug Sale with trader Steve Pickle from
  Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site. Rug sale begins at 10am
  until  4pm. Rug sale taking place at Visitor Center.
  Sunday, May 20- Mimbres Pottery & Imagery  Free lecture by Michael
  Kanteena
   1pm to 3pm in Visitor Center Conference room. Registration required &
  limited to 25.
  Saturday, May 26- Spanish Colonial Tin Punch Workshop instructed by
  Jason Younis
   12 noon to 4pm. $75 participant fee. Registration required & limited
  to 12 participants. Call Susanna at 899-0205 x332 to register.
  Sunday, May 27- Petroglyph Open House 8am – 5pm. A 15% discount given on
   bookstore items (except American Indian Crafts). Acoma Sky
  City Dancers to perform on Visitor Center patio from 2-4pm.
   Gourd Rattle Workshop instructed by Lynn Kottel and Peter Meyer of
  the New Mexico Gourd Society 10am-2pm $35 participant fee.

  June 2007—
  Mon-Fri, June 11-15 (Mon-Fri)- Kids Summer Camp daily from 8:30am to

  Saturday, June 16- Flint Knapping Workshop w/Luther Rivera 9am-4pm $35
  participant  fee. Bring water and lunch. Wear work pants. Workshop
  to be held outdoors on Visitor Center patio.
  Mon-Fri, June 25-29 (Mon-Fri)- Kids Summer Camp daily from 8:30am to
  4:30pm

  Saturday, July 7- Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary presentation.   10 am to
  12 noon on Visitor Center patio. Free program. See a live wolf.

  Saturday, July 14 & 15- Pottery Workshop by Michael Kanteena Part I & II
  $50 participant fee. 10am to 2pm in Visitor Center Conf. room.
  Participants must commit to both days.

  Sunday, Sept. 16- Botanical & Natural Forms Drawing & Painting by Lisa
  Coddington
   9am to 4pm @ Visitor Center Conference room. $95 workshop fee. If you
  have been waiting to just start painting or you are interested in
  reviewing technique, this art session introduces watercolor glazing
  techniques which Renaissance artists used to create their detailed
  botanical and animal illustrations. Demonstrations include: Subject
  selection, lighting, drawing, color mixing and painting technique.
