High school drama employs all the elements of a dramatic production – acting, costumes, set, props, lighting, and sound – to teach the students how a theater company works. The best way to learn drama is to practice it. The main focus of the class will be centered around preparation for and performance of one play at the end of the year. All elements of the play will be created and produced by the students. Side assignments relating to the history of the theater, dramatic techniques, and acting exercises may also be assigned. No previous drama experience necessary. Parts will be assigned based upon audition – all students are guaranteed a part. Performances will be held on the evenings of Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, and we will have rehearsal every day that week.
