Thanks to the ABQ Journal's Newspapers in Education @ the Not Back to School Fair

This is a program that has been around for many years across the country. You can help your kids learn how to read a newspaper and utilize newspapers as a part of the gathering information process that we teach our kids. Check out this great program, there are some fees for things but most of the activities are free online! You can also take a tour!

The Newspapers in Education (NIE) program supports and encourages the use of newspapers as an integral component in teaching today's students in the classroom, in addition to promoting excellence in teaching and lifelong learning. More than 700 newspapers worldwide have successful Newspapers in Education programs. We currently provide newspapers for more than 900 teachers statewide. Assuming each class size is 30, and each paper is read by 2.3 readers, that's over 62,100 readers, on any given day, benefiting from our program. Teachers, students and publishers find the whole concept of NIE rewarding, exciting and fun.
