Topic this month: MATH! What non-traditional ways does your family use to teach math?
Special Presentation: Joan A. Cotter, Ph.D., RightStart Mathematics by Activities for Learning, Inc., http://www.alabacus.com
Activities for Learning, Inc. is the company bringing the AL Abacus to the children of the world. From her Montessori classroom, Dr. Joan A. Cotter created the unique double-sided AL Abacus. The Activities for the AL Abacus was written as she explored the wonderful uses for the new manipulative. Later while working on her doctorate in mathematics education, she wrote the first lessons using the AL Abacus, which became the RightStart Mathematics curriculum available today.
This is a FREE monthly meeting for new and 'old' homeschoolers to come and discuss curriculums, great books, online resources, frustrations, share ideas or projects, provide shoulders to cry on, and just in general be there for the joyful process that is homeschooling. Teachers welcome!
