More Info: on-line newspaper opportunity for teens

From the Oak Meadow yahoo group:

This is Pete, the homeschool mom/English teacher who started The
Watcher. I'll try to answer your questions. The Watcher is
transitioning into a high school level newspaper. If we have enough
submissions, we could do a kids' page, but be aware that the content
of the other pages might not be appropriate for the younger set.
Hmmm, sounds like someone needs to volunteer to start an online
kids' newspaper? I'll be happy to share information with the brave
soul who volunteers!

The writer's guidelines are posted on the FAQ page:
http://readthewatcher.org/files/FAQ.html

We chose The Elements of Style because it is excellent and readily
available. We use informal English; for example, use of first
person pronouns is accepted, but use of second person is not. We
have started a new page entitled HEADset that will publish formal
English such as essays. For information on formal English, see Put
It in Writing by http://www.barrettsbookshelf.com/

The submission process is just as you described: submit and wait to
hear if it is accepted. What are the criteria? We use the same
standards as elsewhere: space available, quality, interest,
suitability, etc.

If anyone has other questions, just contact the staff at
staff@readthewatcher.org

We're delighted that you are interested!
Pete (BTW, I am a woman, always have been.)
