NM Athletic Directors Scholarship
The school may nominate one girl and one boy to enter a scholarship
contest sponsored by the NM Athletic Directors Association.
Applicants must be seniors who have exhibited excellence academics
and at least one area of athletic participation. Scholarship packets
must be received by Mr. Abney no later than the morning of Friday,

New Local Scholarship
The LAHS Class of 1956 is offering a $500 scholarship to honor the
late Lucille McLeskey, an outstanding teacher. The scholarship is
intended for someone who is planning a career in education.
Application information will be available after break, students need
write no more than a page--and a well-written paragraph will suffice—
about why they are considering a career in teaching. Information
available right after the break.

Vince Montoya Scholarship
New Mexico Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Council
(NMEEODC) offers this $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior who
will be attending college in New Mexico. We have applications,
receipt deadline is May 11.

Northern New Mexico College announces that its scholarship deadline
for fall is April 9.

Eastern NM
The deadline for the NM Research and Study Council's Scholarship at
Eastern NM University has been extended. To be eligible, a senior
must have at least a 3.25 GPA and a 25 ACT. If you meet this
criteria and are going to Eastern, please see Mrs. Lieb.

Summer Employment-Seniors
Opportunity for seniors with an interest in environmental
engineering, resource management, water quality, the outdoors, and a
capacity for some heavy physical labor:

Portage Environmental is seeking five summer interns for summer water
quality work at LANL, pay is $11.00 an hour, 40-hours per week. Work
has two components, one involving heavy labor. Students will receive
training in water quality sampling and will work in teams in remote
canyons, look at water samples, take data, maintain sampling
equipment. The heavy labor involves building erosion controls with
logs and rocks, and maintaining existing dams.
